Bring Your Fireplace to Center Stage with an Accent Wall

When you’re designing your living room, one important thing to include in your new design is a focal point.  A focal point is the first part of the room to which your eye is drawn when you enter, and it often sets the mood for the room.  Having a focal point gives the whole room a sense of order and a designer touch.

A radiant gas fireplace makes a wonderful focal point in a room.  Even when it’s not lit, the presence of a fireplace in the room has an inviting and warm feeling, and it makes a natural gathering point.

 Accent Wall with Fireplace

One way to ensure that your fireplace is the focal point of your living room design is to paint an accent color on the wall on which the fireplace is placed.  An accent color is a different, usually bolder color than the colors on the rest of your walls.  It adds drama and character to a room without overwhelming the space, and it’s a great way to draw attention to your fireplace.  Painting the accent wall a warm color, like a fiery orange, will enhance the warm and comforting feeling of the fireplace.

How would you draw attention to your radiant gas fireplace?  Share your ideas with us in the comments or on our Facebook page; we’d love to hear them!
