New Medal of Valor Recipients

Medal of Valor Community Program

The WHL’s Vancouver Giants and Valor Fireplaces have been teaming up for several seasons to award outstanding community members with the Medal of Valor.

We have recently added our final recipients from 2015, but don’t worry, we’ll be adding more for 2016! Winners of the award are all outstanding members of their community, helping out those in need and making a real difference where they can. Winners of the award included:

  • Force of Recipients – Star Wars characters (shown below) are all members of the Outer Rim Garrison of the 501st Legion with represents the Province of BC.
  • Kelly Strongitharm – For the past 3 years Kelly has collected over 40,000 shoes for special children in countries like the Dominican Republic, Sierra Leone and more.
  • Chief Constable Jim Cessford – Retired after 47 years of service this past February, he continues to volunteer with the network to eliminate violence in relationships
  • Gerry Macgillivray – He recently turned 75 and he has coached 5 decades of minor hockey in British Columbia.
