How To Prepare For The Holidays

The holiday season is quickly approaching as we head for the month of December and wait patiently for the arrival of Christmas. That’s why right now is the perfect time to prepare yourself and your home for Christmas, before the holiday rush hits and the days get busier. Even if you can tackle a few of these tasks, you’ll save yourself time and you relax more instead of working hard. Keep reading to learn how you can prepare your home and yourself for the holiday season:

Deep Clean

While this might already be apart of your holiday routine, it’s a great time to give the entire home a deep clean before family and friends arrive. Take the time to clean the inside and the outside of the home, making sure you’re getting into all the corners and hidden spots. Also, this can be a great time to get the carpets cleaned, especially if you will be hosting multiple dinners.

Calendar Review

The holidays can be extremely busy and hectic, especially if you don’t have a good calendar system in place. Whether you use your phone or a paper calendar, look over the next month and review what events are coming up and make sure you aren’t missing any dates. This will help you stay organized and you won’t miss any of the holiday fun! Make sure to get the whole family together to make sure everyone has their events on the schedule.

Declutter & Donate

The holiday season brings many occasions for gift giving, which usually means we end up with a lot of new items at home. While this is exciting, it usually means our home become a bit more full and cluttered so it’s a great time to take a look and see if you can declutter. Set out 2 boxes while you work labeled trash and donate and make it a goal to fill both boxes. Once you’ve filled the donation box, make it a family trip as you donate your items and make a new tradition for the holiday season.

Double Dinners

After a long day, it can be hard to keep up the motivation to cook dinner. So, to save yourself time in the future, double your dinner recipes now and freeze the second portion. That way, you’ll have a few dinners on hand that just need to be defrosted and won’t take much effort at all.
