Spring Cleaning Your Valor Fireplace

As the warmer months quickly begin to approach, the last thing we are thinking about is heating up the house with our fireplace as the sun will start to do that for us!

However, before you shut everything down, it’s essential to give your Valor fireplace the maintenance it deserves. This will also ensure that it will be ready when temperatures begin to drop in the fall and winter, and you’re ready to heat your home. Cleaning your fireplace for the summer won’t take much elbow grease and will leave your Valor fireplace looking as great inside and out,

Glass Fireplace Window

It’s essential to keep the glass of your Valor Fireplace looking bright and clean.  Use an emulsion type cleaner to clean your fireplace glass, making sure to avoid using any abrasive cleaners as it will directly affect the strength of the glass. When applying the cleaner, make sure to use a soft, damp cloth that won’t scratch or harm the glass. Once cleaned, dry the glass with a soft, dry cotton cloth as other materials may leave behind synthetic fibers. Consider using Turtle wax or Brasso for the best results.

Barrier Screen

If you have a barrier screen with your Valor Fireplace, you can lightly clean it with a soft cloth or brush to remove any dust or build-up when needed.

Cast Iron Body, Trim & Feet

When dealing with the matte cast iron parts of your fireplace, you will want to carefully dust with a soft brush to eliminate dust and dander.  If you are looking to clean the enameled cast iron parts, you may use a mild soap and warm water for a deep clean. Once washed, don’t forget to dry these parts with a soft cloth.

Ceramic Logs, Rocks, Beads and Burner

To clean and maintain the inside of your Valor Gas fireplace, the window can be opened from the front of the unit. From here, you can dust the ceramic logs and rocks with a soft cloth or brush.  The same process can be used for the burner of the fireplace, you just want to ensure you don’t brush any particles into the slots of your burner.  If you are interested in cleaning the glass beads of your fireplace, they can be put through the dishwasher for one cycle and thoroughly dried before being put back.

By following these few simple steps, your Valor fireplace will be ready for the summer and prepared for the fall and winter. For additional cleaning instructions and more information, please visit Valor’s cleaning guidelines page.
