Dark Light

As we reach the end of October, things get extra spooky in our neighbourhoods, and you start seeing costumes almost everywhere.

That can only mean one thing, Halloween is right around the corner! Whether you decide to take the kids out trick or treating, attend a local celebration or stay curled up at home next to your Valor Fireplace, safety is the number one concern.

  1. Find A Buddy: No matter your plan for the night, make sure you have a group or a buddy before you head out. If you have young trick-or-treaters heading out, ensure they have an adult or older family member or friend with them to keep everyone safe and on track for the evening. It is easy to get caught up in the excitement and lose members of your group, so make sure to exchange contact info before leaving the house.

  2. Don’t Forget Lights: With the clocks changing, it starts getting dark much earlier in the evening. Before you head out for the night, make sure you have a source of light and/or reflective gear on yourself or your group members. Consider bringing any of the following: a glow stick, a reflective patch, flashlights etc. This is especially important for little goblins or ghosts who may not be easy to see while trick or treating in a dark costume at night.

  3. Start Time: If you are heading out for the night, try to leave early in the evening for ideal conditions. Whether you’re heading to a party or just heading down the street, everything will be extra busy on the sidewalks and roads with neighbours and friends trying to get to their respective events. e earlier you can get out for the night, the better, as you will avoid the rush and have safe travels!

Whatever you decide to do, we wish you a safe and happy Halloween from everyone at Valor Fireplaces. Don’t forget to warm up at the end of your night next to your Valor Fireplace; please visit us here for more information.
